Application Requirements

1. A valid passport.

2. Aged from 18 to 55 and in good health.

3. Abide by the laws of the People’s Republic of China and observe the rules and regulations of the university 

Application Procedure

Step 1：Online application , Register with your email address, sign in with your email address and initial password, complete online application at applychinese.sjtu.edu.cn

Step 2：Upload Documents:

1. A photocopy of your passport page with personal information and photo. If you are already in China, please provide a photocopy of your valid Visa or Residence Permit as well. (jpg, ≤3MB)

2. A photocopy of your recent photo (jpg, 2.2x2.8cm, 300 pixels/inch,≤10k,  Bareheaded).

4. If you are studying at another university/school in China, please submit a study transcript and an attendance letter issued by the International Student Office or the school of your host university with their contact information.

5. Step 3：Pay the application fee 450 yuan: It could be online payment paid, wire transfer through the bank or paying in credit/banking card in our office. Please DON’T transfer through ATM. Please refer to Appendix ④ for Remittance Information.

Step 4：Submit the application form

Admission and registration

1. We will issue an electronic version of Admission Notice and electronic version of Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202/DQ form) to those who are accepted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  

2. The admitted students should bring their ordinary passport, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China  and other required documents to the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China to apply for a student Visa (X1 or X2).

3. The student shall come to Shanghai Jiao Tong University for registration on the registration date indicated on the Admission Notice.  

4. Students will get the timetable (Please refer to Appendix①) after checking passport and visa, buying insurance, paying the tuition, placement test and so on during the registration day.

5.    If the student is not admitted due to unsuccessful document review, the application fee will not be refunded.

Insurance

According to the pertinent regulations of the Ministry of Education and the school, the school will exercise full-member insurance system for the international students. International students must have the insurance in accordance with relevant national regulations and school requirements. Visa

Students must study with student visa. But the student visa doesn't have any working permission. Those who have no valid student visa (X1/X2) or Residence Permit on the passport will be rejected to enroll or study at SJTU. Accommodation

Limited off-campus accomadation. First come, first served.
